Our institution was reaccredited by AAHRPP in June 2023.

About the Center

Mission

Our primary mission is to integrate all institutional efforts related to the protection of human research participants, safeguard their rights and welfare, and ensure that research conducted at our institution complies with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies. In collaboration with the Taipei Medical University – Joint Institutional Review Board (TMU-JIRB), the Office of Human Research, and other relevant units, the Center reviews and oversees the implementation of human research protocols. Through comprehensive coordination, the Center strives to strengthen the protection of research participants and enhance the quality of human research.

Tasks

1.Develop policies and strategies for human research protection.
2.Coordinate and oversee human research protection activities.
3.Support the operations of the Human Research Protection Advisory Committee.
4.Respond to inquiries, complaints, and suggestions regarding human research participant protection from research participants, investigators, and other individuals.

Organizational Structure

Center Members and Responsibilities

The Institutional Official (IO) responsible for the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is the Superintendent of Shuang-Ho Hospital. The Center for Human Research Protection (CHRP) serves as the administrative unit for the HRPP. Human research protocols are reviewed by the Taipei Medical University – Joint Institutional Review Board (TMU-JIRB).

【Responsibilities】

  1. Develop and maintain HRPP policies and procedures.
  2. Oversee and evaluate the implementation of the HRPP.
  3. Ensure adequate resources to support the operation of the HRPP.
  4. Resolve conflicts between applicable laws and regolations governing human research and relevant ethical principles.

Yuan-Hung Wang, Associate Researcher|Executive Secretary, CHRP
【Responsibilities】

  1. Assist the Director in developing and maintaining HRPP policies and procedures.
  2. Assist the Director in overseeing and evaluating the implementation of the HRPP.
  3. Coordinate and facilitate effective communication between the HRPP and relevant personnel and units.
  4. Respond to reports of adverse events submitted by TMU-JIRB members and staff.

Yu-Tso Yeh, Administrative Specialist|Administrative Contact, CHRP:
【Responsibilities】

  1. Receive and handle feedback from human research participants and the TMU-JIRB.
  2. Promote domestic and international educational and training programs related to human research.
  3. Promote human research education and training and participant outreach activities in the community.
  4. Provide administrative support for CHRP meetings and the Human Research Protection Advisory Committee.
